Why chose Thomas Organic Creamery yogurt?

We thank you for your support of our farm; without you we wouldn’t be farming.  Your trust in us to supply your family with good nutritional food is not taken lightly.  We at Thomas Organic Creamery will always put our moral conviction to always do our best as our first ingredient in all our food.

We are dairy farmers in mid-Michigan, milking a small herd of certified organic Jersey cows.  Our “girls” produce very rich, creamy milk.  They are intensively grazed on grass from spring through fall and fed dry hay during the winter.  We allow our girls to live as God designed, eating grass, soaking up sun, and getting exercise.  As a result, we have healthy cows with health-imparting milk.  It is like observing the workings of a fine clock, all gears meshing together for the precise benefit of its outcome.

Consider our yogurt.  Thomas’ yogurt is our future and what sustains our farm and creamery.  It is not inexpensive compared to other yogurts.  But we make our yogurt the way it was done for thousands of years.  And that makes it costly as well as unique.  Our old-fashioned yogurt is made with three ingredients: milk, culture, and time.

The first ingredient sets us apart from most other yogurt; we use fresh milk.  The second ingredient, culture, consists of four different strains of good bacteria:  Bifidobacterium Lactis, Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Lactobacillus Bulgaricus, and Streptococcus Thermophilus.  This is what gives our yogurt its zesty taste.

Time is our third ingredient, which is so very important to producing a high-quality yogurt.  Our yogurt-making days start at 4am and continue well into the evening.  Each batch of yogurt is given seven hours to quietly incubate in order to produce cultures that are both live and thriving.  A long incubation time produces a thick yogurt and eliminates the need to use stabilizers, gums, and thickeners.  Fully-cultured yogurt is naturally thick, so there is no need to strain-off whey or by-products.

If you are purchasing our fruit-filled yogurts, you will see that it is bursting with Michigan-grown organic fruit.  That is what gives these yogurts its rich color.  We make it with real fruit and just enough sugar to bring out the full flavor.  Our fruit is fresh frozen, and we puree it prior to adding it to our yogurt.  As for our vanilla yogurt, we use Nielsen-Massey organic Madagascar vanilla – one of the finest vanillas you will find.

We promise to do our best to be good stewards of our land, animals, and the products we offer.  All our fresh yogurts and ice creams are available to you at area stores and farmers markets.  Our family and staff thank you for supporting our farm and the Michigan local economy.
